Budget iPad (2018) Unveiled During March Event
According to anonymous sources who have talked to Bloomberg , a relatively cheap iPad will be announced next Tuesday. This tablet serves as a successor for the iPad (2017) and would focus on the educational market. That theme most likely comes back on more points during the presentation, as Apple organizes it at the Lane Tech College Prep High School.
In addition to the new iPad, announcements are also made in the software field. Apple unveils a new framework for educational developers, under the name ClassKit . This makes iOS devices, such as the aforementioned iPad, more useful for, for example, administering tests or keeping track of homework. A major update for the already existing Classroom app is also expected.
With a cheaper iPad and the accompanying software, Apple hopes to regain a market share in education from Microsoft and Google. These companies have acquired a large part of the educational market with cheap Windows laptops and Chromebooks. Apple hopes to have a good answer with a budget iPad.
The cheaper MacBook (Air) mentioned in earlier rumors is still under development according to Bloomberg. The device has to cost less than a thousand dollars and replaces the MacBook Air series, which has not been updated for a while. The laptop is not ready to be unveiled next Tuesday, so it will be officially shown later this year.
